Angelo’s is one of our favourite places to grab a pizza or a cheesesteak. There isn’t any seating so we normally end up sitting on the grass across the street, they do close when that day's dough batch is done so don’t leave it too late!!!
(Cash Only)
A great spot to go as a group and try some of the best Szechuan/Taiwanese food in Philadelphia.
Top tip: The food can get spicy here so pay attention to the 🌶️ icons.
Parc is one of the most well known restaurants in Philadelphia, they have a french bistro style menu, which means you can always find something whether it's brunch, lunch or dinner.
Fiorella is regularly listed on the best restaurants lists in Philadelphia, and it's well deserved. The menu changes regularly - we haven’t had the same dish twice and they are always great. Reservation recommended.
Reading Terminal Market, one of the oldest and largest public markets(by American standards), first opened in 1893. There are over 80 different merchants stands most of which are locally owned. There are food stands from all over the world with a few American classics mixed in.
A speakeasy that has some of the best cocktails in the city, the Franklin Mortgage & Investment Company hides behind an unmarked door – a subtle nod to a bootlegging backstory that dates back to Prohibition. Reservations required. Bring your ID!
For the beer lovers this is a must go, with at least 25 different beers on tap and on top of that more than 200 bottled beers/ciders. They do have cocktails and wine but the beer is the main attraction here.
You’ll see Victory beer throughout the city as it is made right here in Pennsylvania, but one of the best places to try them all is at the Brewing Company on the roof terrace either as a flight or full pints, up to you.
On the roof of an old school in south Philadelphia, Bok Bar is one of the best spots to get an overview of the Philadelphia skyline. We have seen some incredible sunsets with a nice drink in our hands, so timing your visit at sunset is a real must.
As many of you will know, Kathryn doesn’t just like coffee, she needs it in order to function. Therefore a list of Kathryn approved coffee shops was a must.
Kathryn's number one coffee in the city. She normally orders an iced latte but you really can't go wrong here. Small pastries available at the counter as well.
A really good option if you don't want to venture too far outside of Old City. They use Elixr beans so you know it's good.
Kathryn's second favorite coffee spot. Perfect location if you want to visit the museums.
This is a chain throughout the US, and in Kathryn's opinion has the best ice cream! (Jamie doesn't agree haha)
Kathryn's favorite place to grab a scone or cookie. They rotate flavors and often sell out so visit in the morning! Limited seating, so suggest taking your sweet treat to Rittenhouse Square and enjoying the park.
Jamie's favorite spot for ice cream. They are famous for their soft serve, but Jamie usually goes for the "brick," only served before 8pm. Flavors are usually really unique and rotate very often.
Best donuts in the city with several locations. They have pre-made donuts in the case (rotating flavors) and hot and fresh donuts, made to order. Kathryn loves the cinnamon sugar hot and fresh. They also serve chicken sandwiches which are supposedly really good.
Water Ice is the Philadelphia version of Italian Ice. On the menu is gelati - which is soft serve ice cream layered with water ice.
There are other options for water ice around the city - most notably Rita's, which is a chain. They're all good!
Philadelphia has A TON of great museums, and is a very walkable city. Uber and Lyft is also very reliable and quick in the city.
A great farmers' market on Saturday mornings along the north side of the park! Walnut street is also great for shopping -- stroll around our neighborhood!
Rittenhouse Square is a great neighborhood to walk around, and Walnut Street right off the square is the main shopping area. If you'd like to walk from Old City to Rittenhouse, Kathryn recommends walking down Spruce or Pine streets :)
The rivalry of Pat’s & Geno’s has been going on for decades and although most Philadelphians will tell you that the best cheesesteak doesn’t come from either of them, trying one of them and then walking across the street to try the other really is a fun experience. (Cash only)
The famous workout scene from the rocky movie is re-enacted everyday by hundreds of people. The view of the skyline may have changed from the top of the 72 steps, but a run up the steps and a photo with the rocky statue is almost like a rite of passage in Philadelphia.
A nice walking/biking/running trail along the Schuylkill river, great views of Philadelphia near South Street!
